Biography

Vera Pejatović is a painter born in 1973 in Pančevo, a town near Serbia’s capital, Belgrade. In January of the year 2000, Vera graduated from the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Economics and nowadays works as an economist, even though her first true passion was painting. The mediums which she uses to create her paintings are usually watercoulor or acrylic on canvas, though she is unafraid to experiment. Much like her mediums, the themes of her artworks and her style are versatile; each piece is a composition of thought and emotion that frames her inner world view between immediate inspiration and the message she wants to relay through her work. Thew opus of her works is like a kaleidoscope of possibilities; an intricate composition where each element is focused on telling a story, trying to replicate the essence of not just human beauty, but also everything that encompasses life’s wonders in Vera’s eyes.

Statement from the Artist

“I believe that, although imperfect, a person’s creation makes an individual stand out precisely because of that imperfection in the first place. A machine can make two identical copies of something— a person cannot. And that is where human beauty and uniqueness lie. We are learning all the time, continuously striving towards improvement, but never reaching ultimate perfection. Just like many others, I strive for perfection, but actually,  I don't want to to reach it, because that would mean that I’m at the end of that journey. My life is that journey, a learning curve of relentless efforts to make new steps and go a little further each time— It’s a search for the truth of beauty, goodness, and the essence of the very human existence, like a secret, innate purpose.

Whether I’m painting or working in my profession— I examine, research and seek that answer in my everyday life. In economics, everything is based on raw economic principles and the factual state of things. That’s why, in art, I feel the freedom to express the true colors of what’s in my soul.” (V. Biografija

Vera Pejatović je samouka slikarka iz Srbije, rođena u Pančevu 1973. godine. Diplomirala je 2000. godine na Ekonomskom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu i radi u svojoj struci kao ekonomista, iako je njeno prvo opredeljenje slikarstvo. Slika načešće akvarele i akrilik na platnu, a teme i stil njenih dela su promenjive. Obično slika akrilom ili akvarele, a teme i stil njenih dela su promenjivi; u zavisnosti od njenih osećanja i poruke koju želi da prenese, svako delo je specifična kompozicija, koja ispoljava boje njenog unutrašnjeg sveta. Verina dela su poput slagalice, gde svaki delić kompozicije odiše životom u opisanom trenutku, predstavljajući  ne samo lepotu čoveka i prirode, već i na same čari života, koje ona želi da prikaže.

Izjava umetnika

Vera : “Mislim da čovek i umetnik stvaraju uz stalnu nesavršenost svojih dela, i da upravo te nesavršenostiu našem stvaranju nas čine individuama. Mašina može da napravi dve identične kopije— čovek to ne može da uradi. I upravo tu leži lepota jedinstvenosti. Mi stalno učimo, poboljšavamo naša znanja, umeća, pa suštinski i sebe, ali nikada ne možemo dostići potpuno savršenstvo. Ja težim ka tom savršenstvu, ali u stvari, kao da ne želim da ga dostignem, jer bi to značilo da sam na kraju svog puta. Moj život je upravo taj put. Lepota traganja za istinom, dobrotom i lepotom, istraživanje i učenje; svaki deo tog puta i traganja su jedan novi život. Bilo da učim i istražujem u svom zvanju, u ekonomiji, gde se moramo držati strogih pravnih iekonomskih principa, bilo da je to u slikarstvu gde osećam slobodu da izrazim baš ono što je u mojoj duši i što mene čini posebnom u odnosu na druge, kao što su i drugi posebni u odnosu na mene, samo jedan princip je univerzalan za sve nas— individualnost.”
